Mount Balusong, Falel, Kiamba Saranggani Province

Sunrise at Mount Balusong
I had the chance to join the 4th Eco Trek Event hosted by Team Bundol in Sitio Falel, Kiamba Saranggani Province. It was their 4th trekking activity for a cause.

The event was supported by the Local Government Unit of Saranggani Province and participated by mountaineers from different places. I was totally amazed with scenery of SocSarGen. Since it was a long travel to Kiamba from General Santos City, my soul was fully loaded with beautiful landscapes. Indeed, it is a must visit SocSarGen.

Caving Exploration in Kapalong Davao del Norte

Alina Cave
The glory of joining any mountaineering event comes with exploring nature at its best in a cheaper and a much fun experience. A mountaineering group from Sto. Tomas hosted a 1st Caving Exploration in Kapalong Davao del Norte. This event made me understand what and how spelunking is all about. Thanks to Layao Adventurist assisted by Kibalaug Outdoor Club for hosting this event along with the Tourism Office of Sto. Tomas and of course Kapalong Tourism Office.

Looking for that Trail Sign

Literally tired… I have been listening to the same song for days now. I wish in my next try, I could see a trail sign of a safe green signal that says it is going to be it.

Though I keep on asking, what’s the use of letting them know who you are, yet it’s too unbelievable for them to see your intentions. I have been wondering why things are really hard. I believe in the goodness of everything, done my best to become a better person that I could be, but still it feels like a long journey before reaching its peak.

Maybe there is no way those dreams would come into reality. Tangled moments are two way a fantasy. I hope one day I could wake up in a better place where everything I have are the best things I wanted to have in my yesterday. Going on in my days though I need to a ...Sign-off again.

Bagasbas Beach, Daet, Camarines Norte

Bagasbas Beach in Daet, Camarines Norte has one of the longest shoreline among the beaches I’ve been. Its fine, gray powdery sand and big waves are really inviting. It is known as one of the top surfing destinations in the Philippines, especially in Bicol Region. It was gloomy when I visited the beach and was low tide but I was really amazed with the ambiance and its long shoreline. The beach walk is well developed giving you a foreign feel.

How to get here:

By Land: From Manila, take bus bound for Daet. Fare is around 700 pesos and travel time is about 8 hours via Quezon Province. Then take a tricycle that will take you to Bagasbas Beach for about 15 minutes, fare is about 40 pesos.

By Air: The nearest commercial airport is in Naga, Camarines Sur; From Manila, take and 40-minute plane ride to Naga. Take a bus, fare is around 140 pesos, or public van with fare around 190 pesos to Daet, travel time is 2 hours. Then take a tricycle that will take you to Bagasbas Beach for about 15 minutes, fare is about 40 pesos.

Sunset in Cloud9

Minutes after take off, just above NAIA, Manila, Philippines, this sunset bids me goodbye. Finally, after my 4 days trip to my grandfather's hometown I am bound to my home.

It was both a sad and overwhelming experience. That long 8 hours back and forth Daet, Camarines Norte was worth it since I met my roots. And seen the place I only used to hear in my father's stories. Sad since I just went there for my grandfather twin's funeral.

Daet, Camarines Norte

Daet is the capital town of the province of Camarines Norte, Philippines. This is where Bicol Region (Region V) begins. The town is quite industrialized though the feel of the province is still there. And nearby towns are mostly in agricultural land.

Most of my father side relatives live here. Since all my life I have been only living in the southern part of the Philippines, I was really glad to visit this place. The sad part was I got to visit to be in my grandfather’s twins’ funeral. I hope next time; I can visit for a vacation.

Puting Bato Mountain Resort

Mount Puting Bato, Samal Island
Mount Putting Bato is considered as the highest peak in Island Garden City of Samal. It is located in Sitio Tayapoc, Barangay Alindanao. I went up to this mountain without a better preparation. No sleep and no enough things for the hike just a bottle of water, a camera and a towel. The entire trek was fine since it is easy to get there. I was not just prepared for that bumpy ride from Peñaplata to Sitio Tayapoc. I am telling you the long bumpy ride is much more a muscle pain than climbing to the top. You will pass by grasses and cows, so better wear something that will protect your legs and hands.

Hagimit Falls

Hagimit Falls, Samal Island, Philippines
It is past noon. As I decided to go straight to Hagimit Falls after my breathless climb and ride from Mount Putting Bato. I cannot explain why it took me this long to finally visit a nearby island's most visited tourist spot, Hagimit Falls. The road going to the falls has been developed by local government which makes it an easy 5 minutes ride from bus terminal. It is a long walk from the entrance to Hagimit rock spring but quite relaxing because of nature's ambiance. After reaching the end of the path walk, I am not that impress because I thought it is all that it can offer, until I roam around. Though it has been developed and a lot of cottages, bridges and even spa are built within the vicinity, the running water and its natural beauty is still preserve. Its waters are bluish and inviting. The strong current of water falling from the falls is simply saying "come take a swim". The swimming area does not have even depth that is why swimmers need to take extra precautions. The lower deck swimming area reaches up to 10 feet while the upper deck is up to 7 feet deep and its layer is higher than the one below. But not only that an interesting view and I call it soulful can be found just behind the cottages where the water is passing to a rain forest. It is a wide area of rock spring. A must see magical place.

On the RoAd

I have billion of reasons why I rather stay on the road with all the inconveniences than stay at home with a wandering mind. You will never see how perfect things really are unless you appreciate every beauty that God created. Over and over again, I am blessed to have witnessed these beauties. I know there are a lot more to come as long as my eyes are ok and as long as I can still support this vice.

Buses

Talking about inconveniences, variations of these what makes most people around a patient one freak out. It is like a virus that tends to eat good vibe during any itinerary. Since this patient one only have simple things in this world. No car and no extra loads of bucks to spend, buses are the one she can only have.

Lanang Aplaya Beach Resort Davao City

Way to escape from getting so sick with the environment at home is a little moment at the beach. And it did not fail me at all. My mother and Brynt initially planned to hop to Samal Island but it was a bit windy and they are not used to big waves. So we just settle to a nearby beach resort, Lanang Aplaya Beach Resort.

This resort is managed by Damosa Land Inc., no wonder why the entrance fee is a higher than the others. But you can get enough for what you pay for…they have separate shower area, dressing rooms and other amenities that one can enjoy with the 25pesos entrance fee.

Just look at the photo for the fees.
